The History of The Montessori Method

The Montessori Method was developed in the early 1900s by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator.

While working with children in underserved communities, she noticed something powerful:

When children were given respect, meaningful work, and a carefully prepared environment, they naturally became focused, calm, confident, and joyful learners.

Maria designed materials and classrooms that allowed children to:

Her approach spread quickly across Europe, then the United States, and is now used in schools all over the world.
