Montessori Education at Two Roots

Two Roots was created by two mothers who wanted to build something different: a school that felt peaceful but not rigid, intentional but not cold, and high-quality without feeling out of reach. We envisioned a school that we would choose for our own children, fostering early childhood development in a nurturing environment.

After years of working for large, for-profit schools and companies, we witnessed how budget limitations were often used to justify low wages for teachers, limited classroom materials, and frequent compromises in quality. We saw talented, passionate educators burn out or leave the field entirely—not due to a lack of heart, but because the system made it unsustainable for them to stay.

We knew there had to be a better way.

As a nonprofit education organization, there are no owners or investors siphoning revenue, and no shareholders to answer to. Instead, every dollar is reinvested directly into the school, our guides, and every family who walks through our doors. We believe that children thrive when the adults caring for them feel respected, confident, and inspired. By providing enticing benefits and fair wages, we create a stable environment that fosters long-term relationships with children and families.

Just as Maria Montessori intended, our nonprofit model allows us to serve a diverse Montessori community, ensuring that families who might not otherwise have access to a Montessori education can benefit from it. We are committed to making high-quality early education accessible, as cost should never be a barrier. Diversity, opportunity, and belonging are what make our community stronger.

At the root of it, our school exists to provide an environment that allows children to grow, prioritizing people over profit.

Two Roots is a Montessori community dedicated to early childhood development, where children cultivate independence, confidence, and a genuine joy for learning. Beginning from infancy and continuing through elementary, we foster a nurturing, child-centered environment within our nonprofit education framework, ensuring families feel a sense of belonging and children thrive.

Montessori is a hands-on, child-focused learning style within a carefully prepared environment that supports early childhood development. In the Montessori community, children choose purposeful work, build concentration, and are encouraged to practice true independence with trained Guides who observe, present lessons, and protect focus in the context of nonprofit education.

In a Montessori community focused on early childhood development, calm classrooms foster intentional movement, allowing children to work independently or collaborate in small groups. Most programs embrace mixed-age communities, where guides provide quiet one-on-one presentations. Students are encouraged to engage with ample practical life activities that promote real responsibility, all within intentionally arranged and curated environments supported by nonprofit education principles.
