The Enrollment Process

Our Commitment to Families

At Two Roots we believe that a successful school experience begins with alignment between the family, the child, and the prepared environment. For this reason, our enrollment process is intentionally designed to ensure that families understand our philosophy, policies, and the expectations before beginning enrollment.

We view enrollment as a collaborative partnership built on transparency, consistency, and shared expectations. Our goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in an environment that supports independence, purposeful work, respect for others, and meaningful participation in the classroom community.

We encourage you to review the school calendar and family handbook as well as the entire enrollment process carefully and bring any questions to your family meeting. We want families to feel informed and confident before making the commitment to join Two Roots.

Our responsibility is to maintain a safe, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate environment for every child. While we are committed to partnering with families and supporting each child's transition, we also recognize that Montessori is not the right fit for every family or every child at every stage of development.

STEP 1: Schedule a Tour

STEP 3: Attend an In-Person Family Meeting

STEP 2: Submit an Application

All prospective families are required to attend a school tour before being invited to submit an application. This provides an opportunity to observe our environment, learn about our Montessori approach, and ask questions about our programs and daily operations to ensure our program and structure work for your family.

STEP 2: Submit an Application

Following the tour, families who wish to move forward may be invited to complete an application. Application submission allows us to gather information about your child, your family's goals, and your interest in Montessori education.

STEP 3: Attend an In-Person Family Meeting

STEP 4: Review and Sign the Enrollment Agreement

After the application has been reviewed, families will schedule an in-person meeting with school leadership. During this meeting, we will discuss our policies, procedures, educational philosophy, and expectations for both children and families.

This conversation is an up-front and important opportunity to ensure our program fits your child's developmental needs and that our approach aligns with your family's expectations and commitment to Montessori education. We value transparency and partnership, but we want to be clear about who we are before moving forward with registration so there are never any surprises down the road.

STEP 4: Review and Sign the Enrollment Agreement

STEP 4: Review and Sign the Enrollment Agreement

If both the family and school determine that the program is an appropriate fit, the family will be asked to sign an acknowledgment confirming their understanding of the enrollment expectations. Registration will begin only after this acknowledgment has been completed.

A required enrollment deposit ($1000) will then be collected to secure the child's enrollment, in accordance with the school's enrollment and deposit policies. At the same time, we will openly discuss your child's start date and our availability.

STEP 5: Attend New Family Orientation

STEP 4: Review and Sign the Enrollment Agreement

STEP 6: Begin the Six-Week Normalization Period

Before your child's first day, at least one parent or guardian is required to attend New Family Orientation. This occurs on the last Thursday of each month or upon appointment with your child's classroom guides. This session prepares families for the transition into our community and reviews the practical expectations, routines, and communication practices that support a successful start.

STEP 6: Begin the Six-Week Normalization Period

A child's first six weeks in a new Montessori environment is an intentional period of integration. During this time, we observe how the child adjusts to the prepared environment, develops relationships, participates in the work cycle, builds independence, and responds to classroom routines and expectations.

Normalization is not about expecting perfection or immediate mastery. It is about observing meaningful progress toward becoming comfortable, engaged, increasingly independent, and able to participate safely in the classroom community.

Families will receive a detailed written progress update every two weeks throughout this period. These updates will communicate observed strengths, areas of growth, adjustment to the environment, and any concerns requiring additional collaboration.

STEP 7: Individualized Support

STEP 7: Individualized Support

STEP 7: Individualized Support

At the four-week mark, if our observations indicate that additional support is necessary for your child to integrate successfully into the prepared environment, we will schedule a Family Alignment Meeting. Together, we will review our observations and develop a specific two-week support plan with clear goals and expectations.

At the conclusion of this two-week plan, we will review the child's progress and determine whether the identified goals have been met or whether meaningful progress has occurred.

If the child is making sufficient progress, the integration process will continue with appropriate monitoring and communication. If the child is not making sufficient progress and our program is unable to meet the child's needs within the structure and staffing of our Montessori environment, the family may be provided with a two-week courtesy period to identify an alternative educational placement.
